Texas Sky
04:01
|
|||
I've been sitting like an Island
Comfortably curled up inside
I've been looking but not finding things
That will make me satisfied
I'm a master of my own mind games
What I don't ike I push aside
I've complete control ore' my domain
I create these special lies
If you're looking to find me
Well I fear it's much to late
For I'm lost here in these woods my dear
And they've closed and locked the gate
And sometimes for a moment
I think I can see the sky
In the sky's my freedom
For it's there that I can fly
In the Texas Sky
In the Texas Sky
So if you find you're sitting
On an island of your own
You're sitting back just watching
As the clouds gently roam
And if by chance you recognize
Some special cloud you see
Don't fantasize just realize
That friendly cloud is me
In the Texas Sky
In the Texas Sky

Curse Of The Fool
04:25
|
|||
Well I've heard it said before by those much kinder than I
That what separates a wiseman from a fool
Is what he sees when he looks into the sky
What he sees when he looks into the sky
One might see a big space
While another might long for the moon
Another might see only unreachable stars
And a fool looks back down at his shoes
But a wise man sees his own backyard
A wise man always lives in the stars
A wise man wants to re-write the book
And it's thrown into the fools fire
Without even a look
Somewhere close by and yet so far away
Is a place where we came from that we may see again someday
A place of more breadth and more depth than you'll know
And a fool has never seen where a wise man will go
And a wise man sees his own backyard
A wise man always lives in the stars
A wise man wants to re-write the book
And it's thrown into the fools fire
Without even a look

Blacksmith's Fire
03:47
|
|||
There is no luck
It's push and shove
You make your breaks
With sweat and blood
And some may bleed
Till banks run dry
To live again
Another Try
And through the fire
And thunderous blows
We come to see
We have no foes
And sparks do fly
And the black smoke boils
As slag burns off
Onto the soil
First turned out
Then turned within
Five hundred times
Then turned again
Luminesence
Grows higher and higher
We are the steel
Of the Blacksmith's Fire
The hottest forge
Makes strongest steel
And every blow
That does not kill
Creates a blade
That's feared by kings
The truest strength
The pounding brings
And though some sleep
Ten thousand years
They will awake
Give wings to fears
There comes a time
For every sword
To be complete
To leave the forge
First turned out
Then turned within
Five hundred times
Then turned again
Luminesence
Grows higher and higher
We are the steel
Of the Blacksmith's Fire

All Over The World
06:05
|
|||
Standing at ground zero the weight's too much to bear
You can feel it in your body, you can taste it in the air
But this our greatest loss can't even be compared
To the lives lost each and everyday to nothing but apathy
We cringe at just the thought of one lost innocent
These our precious moms and dads,
Sons and daughters of American decent
But what of all the bloodshed for oil and power and greed
What of all the lives laid down by nothing but apathy
All over the world
All over the world
All over the world
All over the world
Standing at ground zero with eyes closed, it's hard to take a peek
It's hurts to hear forgiving words about turning the other cheek
Vengence is may sayeth man, and we will see justice done.
We will make those killers pay and keep evil on the run
Somewhere in a desert a child lies dying in her mothers embrace
Maybe from cold or from a gunshot wound,
Maybe with starvation on her face
We who fight for our addictions,
We who would gladly die for our ease
We live without compassion and we spread just like a disease
All over the world.
All over the world
When will we learn that to harm one kills us all
When will we realize the self righteous always fall
When will we take a chance. Listen to the still small voice inside
When will we understand we're all fathers and mothers and sisters and brothers
All over the world
All over the world
All over the world
All over the world

Mae Pyle
04:24
|
|||
She walks the bluffs alone looking out to sea
Near her weather-worn shingle shack where wait her cats and tea
I drive her into town and have to wonder why
In the stone cold silence her affections lie
Mae Pyle the snow lies heavy at your door
Mae Pyle springtime gone will come no more
I would come to warm your heart but you won't let me near
Mae Pyle what is it you fear.
In my days of youth we stole apples from your trees
Just to hear you voice could cause our blood to freeze
Now the orchard lies forgotten choked with weeds
Just like a broken heart abandoned and in need
Mae Pyle the snow lies heavy at your door
Mae Pyle springtime gone will come no more
I would come to warm your heart but you won't let me near
Mae Pyle what is it you fear.
The stinging winter winds are blowing through the trees
And on the jagged rocks below the sea-spray starts to freeze
As the season ends I'll have to drive away
Wondering what curse could make that lonely widow stay
Mae Pyle the snow lies heavy at your door
Mae Pyle springtime gone will come no more
I would come to warm your heart but you won't let me near
Mae Pyle what is it you fear.

Court of Greedy Kings
05:07
|
|||
When the Sheriff found the plants they were 8 feet tall at least.
Growing in a grassy little verge off the highway to the east
"Who owns this land?" the Sheriff had to know.
He said "Someones got to pay the price For letting the plants grow"
The land belonged to God himself the record clearly showed.
So God went on the wanted list the crime scene it got mowed.
God himself showed up in court to answer for his crime.
For growing those illegal plants he may have to serve some time
Mother Nature Mary Jane what ever did you do
To make the world so frightened of a little plant like you
The corporate propaganda that the legal drug lords sling
Is just another joker's play in this court of greedy kings
A court of greedy kings
God said "Are you all crazy? I sent this as a gift.
To ease your stressed and worried little minds your spirits I would lift"
"You ADMIT" the Judge exclaimed "to committing such a crime?"
"So although I hate to do it, you'll have to serve the time"
So they locked God up in the federal pen for his lifetime no parole.
The bars and walls will pass to dust and the Judge fears for his soul.
Now the moral to this little tale in you couldn't tell
They'll try to make illegal anything that they can't sell...
Cuz it grows so well
Mother Nature Mary Jane what ever did you do?
To make the world so frightened of a little plant like you.
The corporate propaganda that the legal drug lords sling
Is just another joker's play in this court of greedy kings
A court of greedy kings

The Point
03:23
|
|||
Everybody's looking for a way to fill the hole
Between the things they think they have to have
And the longing of their soul
The more we lose direction the harder to define
What comes from the heart or
From the deceptions of the mind.
But for all a time will come when the
Truth will show it's face.
It's not something you can purchase
Nor win within a race
For some it will bring comfort while
Others will cry tears
For all the lost priorities
For all the wasted years
It may hit you while your standing
Or 6 feet underground
Sometimes as loud as thunder
Sometimes without a sound
You can run from it your whole life,
But not far or fast enough
Because in your life or death it always finds you...
You'll get the point.
And when your years are 4 times 20
You've got everything but health
Your life's an empty mansion,
You're abandoned by your wealth
This is the time that you will see it
There's no turning a blind eye
It's not too late to change it
It's not too late to fly.
It may hit you while your standing
Or 6 feet underground
Sometimes as loud as thunder
Sometimes without a sound
You can run from it your whole life,
But never far or fast enough
Because in your life or death it always finds you...
You'll get the point.

Immortal
05:03
|
|||
Lately I've been thinking
About the way my life is going
All the things I used to know
I don't seem to be a knowin'
All the knowledge in the world
Has now been handed down
And is firmly in the grasp
Oof every eighteen year old in town
And they are immortal.
I too was once like they are
Until I tried to touch the sun.
Now all the miles and heat and light
Have made my colors run.
There are no clear drawn lines
Except for the ones upon my face.
Now I wake to find that time and I
Are in a dead heat in this race.
And I'm not immortal anymore.
Oh for fields to run through and wings to fly.
Oh if I could feel just one more day like I'm never gonna die,
Like I'm never gonna die.
But I'm not immortal anymore.

Fade Your Heat
03:40
|
|||
As I look deep into your eyes
I see your fear, I hear your crys
With arms held out I pull you in
I hold you close, my dearest friend
And being all that a man can be
I take your hand your safe with me
And floodgates move to let it pass
From deep within onto the grass
I will fade your heat I will keep you safe
I will fade your heat, I will not give way
I will fade your heat, there will be no harm
I will fade your heat, step here into my arms
There is no reason and without rhyme
Geysers erupt toward the sky
They come from mother, our mother earth
It is our source, it is our birth
And this, the flame, will burn us down
Without the man to bring it ground
And as you are, so to am I
To be myself, to let you cry
I will fade your heat I will keep you safe
I will fade your heat, I will not give way
I will fade your heat, there will be no harm
I will fade your heat, step here into my arms

The Call
03:43
|
|||
Hey , whats going on?
I hope that you don't mind me calling on the phone.
It's been awhile now, I'm doing fine.
But sometimes it's hard to get you off my mind
And through all the days and miles we've been apart,
I still respect your need to make a clean new start.
I guess what it is that I'm really trying to say
Is that these feelings that I have for you will never go away.
You're in my mind, you fill my heart
Like raindrops on a lake or a candle in the dark
I will not die, I have moved on
What I guess I'm trying to say is that this love I have for you goes on and on.
I think that's all now, I'd better end.
I've got 400 miles to drive so I can sing my songs again.
And when I'm singing, I'll think of you.
Those thoughts help me to be myself and that's when my music fills the room.
And though it's true we'll no longer be a pair,
I'll still think of you and all the magic times we shared.
And I'm not sorry, for the way we've been
You taught me how to love and now I'll love you as my friend.
You're in my mind, you fill my heart
Like raindrops on a lake or a candle in the dark
I will not die, I have moved on
What I guess I'm trying to say is that this love I have for you goes on and on

Halfway Round The World
04:27
|
|||
What am I to believe of what I've seen on my T.V.
Of all the killing going on somewhere halfway round the world.
They speak of cold deciet and of the death put on the breeze
By the man we sold the weapons to he kills with such great ease
And I find it all to easy to point a finger, take a stand
It's not my fault it was their job to liberate that foreign land
But looking at the photographs of mothers fallen down
While mourning over infants buried deep in bloody ground
I feel I failed humanity I never raised my voice
I sat comfortably inside my home I never made a choice
To tell the world they're people Moms and Dads with boys and girls
But Hey, What could I have done I'm only one man and I'm halfway round the world
As we celebrate our soldiers coming home from months in sand
They're wearing shiny white dress gloves to hide those blood stained hands
And though they say we've won that war a skeptic I'll remain
To shed another's blood for oil is to bring us all to shame
And their ad campaigns were oh so slick they filled us with our pride
Americans are lucky cause we were on the winning side
But looking at the photographs of mothers fallen down
While mourning over infants buried deep in bloody ground
I feel I failed humanity I never raised my voice
I sat comfortably inside my home I never made a choice
To tell the world they're people Moms and Dads with boys and girls
But Hey, What could I have done I'm only one man and I'm halfway round the world

Val Davis Vermont
Good music doesn’t come easily.
It’s discovered down mistaken paths and
in heartfelt hardships. Val Davis’
life has
had its share of both. Music has always
been his companion through it all. From
his Southeast Missouri church upbringing
where he fell in love with music, through
his days of bad choices and worse booze
to now; music is who he is.
